WE NEED YOUR HELP The last year has had a big impact on us all. For young people in general, this crisis has dealt a disproportionate blow, affecting their lives in every way. They have experienced economic and social challenges, struggling to find work and maintain relationships. Not seeing friends has a big impact on young people’s development and many have reported feeling lonely and isolated. The charity Young Minds found that 67% of young people believe that the pandemic will have a long-term negative effect on their mental health. Many are feeling worried about the future. Many of you will be aware that the restrictions relating to COVID 19 have started to ease. With this in mind, we have been risk assessing all of our activities, in line with information from the National Youth Agency, Government guidance and England Boxing. We have been told that we can open the gym from the 25th July and that we can open the centre to deliver youth work activities. However, there are still stringent requirements around numbers, social distancing, track and trace and PPE, so now is not the time to return to our normal running of sessions. So for this reason we will be bringing our staff back from Furlough on the 3rd August, to ensure we can have some provision over the Summer Holidays. We are looking for an experienced part-time Finance Officer to join our small but incredibly impactful charity based in South London. You must have exceptional communication skills, great attention to detail and a ‘can do’ attitude. It follows both Carney’s Community and Fitzroy Lodge boxer’s journey in the sport.  Like the whole film industry, we thought our own production work had to stop. This included a new documentary that we have been filming.  Posh Boy captures the lives of young, aspiring boxers from London’s inner- city boroughs. It is a portrait of struggle and aspiration against the odds. But, this pandemic poses a serious challenge to the community at the heart of Posh Boy.  In these unusual circumstances, and to help this community under threat, we have decided to share some of our existing film material with you. We will then go on to capture this story through the testing weeks ahead, using whatever means our technologies make safely possible.
