November 2021 Newsletter

Welcome to the Carney’s Community
Newsletter of November 2021.

Over the past couple of months, we have been busy working within the community, to support as many people as possible. We are as ever, very grateful for your continued support, as this has allowed us to both deliver and adapt our services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Read on to find out what we have been up to…

We were presented with an award for our work during the pandemic, by Wandsworth Council and now have our name on the Wandsworth Role of Honour.
On 30th November Virgin Money Giving will be closing and will no longer accept or process donations through their platform, including existing regular donations. If you have a direct debit set up to donate to Carney’s monthly, please transfer this to JustGiving, through the link here. If you are interested in setting up a regular gift to Carney’s, you can do so through the same link. This support is valuable to help us to continue providing boxing and other support for young people in our community. If you are interested in giving regularly to Carney’s or you need any help with this, please contact Alex Bowles: alex.bowles@carneyscommunity.org
We are excited to announce that we have been nominated and shortlisted for the Community Impact Award at the 2021 London Sport Awards, so will be attending the ceremony on the 6th December.
Battersea Bilkes was recently donated a number of new bikes at an event hosted by O3e and FRP. The participants have now signed up to a reward scheme through which, they can earn a bike to keep. We played a lead role in the annual Battersea Together event, with the Battersea Alliance and the Big Local SW11.  The fourth in a series of partnership development and networking events building coalitions and communities of place and interest in Battersea; attended by 70 people ‘live’ plus 20 ‘online’.

A huge thank you to Taylor Made Plumbing & Heating, who kindly supported us last month by isolating a radiator that was leaking, supplied and fitted a non-return valve on our sink and inspected our drains and man holes free of charge.
