We’ve posted a new case study which tells the story of Arnold. Arnold was excluded from school and referred to Carney’s Community. He excelled in sports but struggled to focus on his studies. Our mentoring programme helped him focus on both and with our help Arnold went on to set up our highly successful Get Fit Fast sessions. Read his story here.

The award recognises the hard work that Carney’s Community does in engaging some of the boroughs most disadvantaged residents in boxing fitness training.

Read MoreCarney’s coach Roddie has decided to spend two days in a wheelchair to raise money for the charity. All money raised will go towards buying some specialist equipment for our wheelchair participants to use, in order for them to excel in their boxing training.
Read MoreOver the last year we have been helping a number of our participants to gain qualifications in boxing tutoring and gym qualifications. We have also been able to support a number of them into personal training jobs. This year we are looking to take that one step further and set up our own Carney’s Community personal training social enterprise.
Read MoreFive Carney’s Community participants have been trained up and found paid work helping to regenerate Battersea Power Station. We have been working in close partnership with a number of agencies involved such as Skanska and the Battersea Power Station Development Company. They are keen to ensure that local people benefit from the new jobs. There are still more places available and, with many more years until the project is finished, we hope to be able to place many more people into work there.
