Carney’s coach Roddie has decided to spend two days in a wheelchair to raise money for the charity. All money raised will go towards buying some specialist equipment for our wheelchair participants to use, in order for them to excel in their boxing training.

Roddie has set himself this challenge to experience the everyday struggle faced by those in wheelchairs. He has recently been inspired by the attitude of two boxing session participants in wheelchairs who refuse to let their circumstances dictate what they can and cannot do.

While he does not think it will be easy, Roddie is committed to properly completing the challenge. He will maintain his normal day-to-day routine including showering, cooking, looking after his kids (including the school runs) whilst wheelchair bound.

Roddie has been working with Carney’s Community as a coach for nearly a year now. We are really proud of him – not only for his positive influence to-date – but for his initiative to take on this fundraising challenge.

Please do head over to Roddie’s Just Giving page and check out the story in his own words and donate if you can. Alternatively Roddie is taking cash donations as well, which can be sent to Carney’s Centre or given to Roddie or a member of staff.
