Carney’s Community were on display at the A.I.M high event, recently held in Battersea in memory of Reece Kiffin. Its aim was to showcase and inspire local young creativity and talent, as well as offer routes into employment and generally inspiring positive lifestyle choices.

Tom Davies, age 19, has completed his gap year challenge of being the youngest person to cycle around the world. Tom arrived back home in London today to a rapturous welcome from a group of family and friends. 

There are various opportunities this August to work up a sweat, get fit, learn new skills (and have fun). Why not pop along to Sport in the Park or dare to try the Carney’s Boot Camp! Summer events Sport in the Park (Battersea Summer Scheme, £1 entry): 11.30am – 4.30pm , 4 -7 August, 2015, Millennium Arena, Battersea Park. Visit us at our boxing stall and try out our brand new pop-up boxing ring. Carney’s Boot Camp (free): 11-18yo, 10-21 August, 2015, Carney’s Community Centre. There will be prizes and free refreshments for those that attend. Get Fit Fast: Every Saturday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm for 7-11yo at Carney’s Community Centre. Also, regular Carney’s Community boxing sessions continue to run at our centre every Monday and Wednesday 5pm – 6.30pm for 11-17yo and 6.30pm – 8pm for 18+.

Back in February we told you about Tom Davies, a 19 year old who is attempting to become the youngest person to cycle round the world unsupported. His entire route is over 18,000 miles and includes 17 countries and four continents. As well as going for the record, he is taking this huge challenge in order to raise money for three different charities, including Carney’s Community. Well Tom is still going. He is currently in the USA and is now over three quarters of the way through his journey.

Carney’s Community will be running the Sports and Fitness section at A.I.M. High in Battersea on Saturday 4th July. The event is held in association with Aspire 2B, IAMNEXT and Caius House and will showcase local young creativity, talent and business to inspire positive lifestyles. If you are in the area on Saturday, head on down to Caius House on Holman Road between 3pm – 6pm and check us out!

The Carney’s Community skydive team managed to raise over £3,300 at our recent jump at Headcorn Aerodrome – a huge thank you to all our supporters. There is still time to add a donation if you wish via our donation page.

Carney’s Community staff and participants will be taking part in a team skydive on Tuesday 9 June to raise money for our work. We are steadying our nerves before the big jump next week!

Carney’s Community and Fitzroy Lodge picked up a Team London award for volunteering  at a ceremony held this week at City Hall by London’s Mayor Boris Johnson.

The Aviva Community Fund is offering you the chance to secure funding for Carney’s Community. It is simple and free to vote for us. Your vote could help us develop our boxing sessions and one-to-one work with disadvantaged young people. You just need an email address and it is open to everyone, not just Aviva customers.
