We are thrilled to announce that Good Guys Decorating – set up by two Carney’s participants – is due to be launched officially at Battersea Power Station on the 12th of July.

The current chair of Carney’s Community is planning to step down and become a regular trustee in 2018. We are therefore seeking a dynamic individual to help lead us in our next phase of organisational development. We are seeking candidates with strategic insight and a good understanding of charity governance, to lead the board and support the Chief Executive.  As a small charity, we are seeking a chair with a ‘hands on’ attitude who is prepared to get involved in the charity’s work directly, and who can provide around 1-2 days work a month. Update 15th June: We are ecstatic to announce that we have exceeded our target of £10,000 via ‘The Summer Give’ and raised £21,743! We would like to thank each and everyone of you, for your support and generosity. Your Donations Double with the ‘Summer Big Give Challenge’ We have been lucky enough to have been accepted to take part in the ‘Summer Big Give Challenge’, the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign, to raise funds to fund our intensive one-to-one and sessional based mentoring with disadvantaged young people. What this means is, any donations made to Carney’s Community during Monday 11th June – Midday Friday the 15th June, will be matched and doubled by the big give, doubling the impact on any generous donations you choose to make. That’s one donation with twice the punching power!

A massive thank you from us to all of those that were involved for fundraising for us over the last month.

We are honoured to have current British and Commonwealth Welterweight champion, Bradley Skeete, as the first official patron of Carney’s Community.

Here at Carney’s we currently have a number of brave (read ‘mad’) people who are undertaking a number of challenges to fund raise for Carney’s Community. We have no statutory funding, so we are dependent on private donations. As a result we always like to get behind those who fund raise for us, and know lots of our supporters do too. So have a look at the list below of current Carney’s Community supporters currently fundraising and, if you feel like it, head over to their donation pages to give them a little bit of financial motivation! All money goes towards (what we like to think is!) a brilliant cause.

We have been working with HMP Brixton and Hilton Hotels to place ex-offenders, recently released from prison, straight into an apprenticeship in the kitchens at Hilton Hotels. Ten have been placed so far! This will help the ex-offenders to get back on their feet and into a new career after their release, reducing the likelihood of re-offending.
