The purpose of the job is to lead the kitchen and our Fit and Fed project, to provide a healthy and nutritious meal to around 40 of our young people and staff after the boxing sessions. You will be the sole cook, planning, preparing, cooking and serving a hot meal twice a week, with occasional support from participant volunteers. The Community Chef will take a lead role in food safety and hygiene systems, ordering, collecting and managing stock, equipment, and the use of the kitchen. Job Description As a youth worker you will be part of the team at Carney’s community, supporting the running of the youth boxing sessions, youth club and bike workshop. You don’t need any experience in boxing or bike maintenance, but it is a bonus. We are, however, specifically looking for people with experience of working with & supporting young people aged 11-18. We were all celebrating on 6th September when we watched participant, Marcus Perrineau Daley win a silver medal in the 100-metre wheelchair sprint, in his first ever Paralympics (being pipped at the post by the current world record holder). Marcus first came to Carney’s a few months after breaking his back in a motorbike accident. He immediately excelled in boxing and achieved his personal training qualification with us.
