Musician Tinie Tempah came down to observe our boxing sessions and then did a session in our music studio, with participant Andrew and a select group of other participants. This came about following on from a presentation we did to Mercedes a couple of years ago. After that, they kindly linked us in with funders Laureus and then more recently, to arrange for a couple of their ambassadors to come down and visit our participants.
Read MoreWe got coverage in The Wandsworth Times for our bike workshops where we train 11-18 year olds to fix up unwanted bikes. The teenagers then get to keep the bikes or they are sold on with any profits re-invested into local youth projects. Our lead youth worker Rory said: Through our regular workshops, local young people get to work with mechanics to fix up abandoned or unwanted bikes. They learn useful practical skills and they get to keep the bikes which they would not otherwise be able to afford. Often these bikes are left on the streets in estates or outside train stations, and it’s thanks to the initiative taken by organisations like Positively Putney BID that they are removed off the streets and donated to a good cause.”
