The Big Give

It Begins! From today, for just one week, any donation you make to Carney’s through the Big Give Campaign is doubled! Can you help us raise £20,000 for our Key Work Project in one week? Our Key Work is our transformative one to one support with young people facing the most complex circumstances. Our Key Workers walk alongside the young people, advocate for them, help them get jobs or back into mainstream education, help them get the support they are entitled to or even get criminal charges dropped for those who have been victims of criminal exploitation. Your support can make that possible. To donate go to this link here: Want to see for yourself how your money will make a difference? Head over to our Instagram or Facebook page for the latest videos on our work at Carney’s.

September Newsletter

Dear Community, We’ve had an amazing summer full of events, new projects, and exciting building upgrades. As we head into the next few months, we are focused on strengthening our community and creating more opportunities. Thank you for your continued support! On 26th July we launched “Carney’s Cycles” our newest social enterprise. Our Bike Workshop has been transformed into a shop open to the public every Saturday from 10am to 2pm. It is staffed by our trained young people and our qualified mechanics. Carney’s participants who complete our 5-week bike mechanics course can apply to be part of the Saturday shop as a “Junior Mechanic”. Giving each of them invaluable work experience and their first paid job. Our launch was a huge success, with the Mayor of Wandsworth officially opening the shop with a ribbon cutting and a video and article in the SW Londoner:https://www.swlondoner.co.uk/news/21082025-watch-the-charity-owned-carneys-cycles-supporting-wandsworth-youth. Thank you to everyone who came. Carney’s Newsletter – March 2025

On the 2nd March we held another Fitzroy Lodge Amateur Boxing Club open boxing show. We saw some great performances, including our very own Timothy, making his debut and winning with a second round stoppage. The boxing was so good, that it was covered in March’s Boxing News. Giz ran another girls only Boxers ToolKit over the half term, with a great turn out of the Carney’s young women.   In partnership with Performance Plus and Inclusive Futures, we delivered another successful Gym instructor level 2 course, with all 9 attendees qualifying. Some will be joining us for paid work experience and others plan to go onto their personal training qualification.   Cyprian was welcomed back to the Wimbledon Foundation, following his last appearance, as the person who did the coin toss for the men’s final last year. He got up and presented to 250 guests, at their annual reception. […]

October Newsletter

We are excited to welcome Michael Petiafo to our team as our new Lead Youth Worker, who brings a wealth of experience in supporting young people to thrive and reach their full potential. Please do come in and say hello! After a busy Summer Holiday, we now have our regular participants attending the weekly boxing and youth club sessions, which have been as busy as ever! We were all celebrating on 6th September when we watched participant, Marcus Perrineau Daley win a silver medal in the 100-metre wheelchair sprint, in his first ever Paralympics (being pipped at the post by the current world record holder). Marcus first came to Carney’s a few months after breaking his back in a motorbike accident. He immediately excelled in boxing and achieved his personal training qualification with us. We then introduced him to Paralympic superstar, David Weir, which led to him training with him and entering […]

August Newsletter

We are grateful to our neighbours at Battersea Place who have been fundraising for us all year.  This was demonstrated by the art and photography exhibition we put on together, featuring some amazing pieces of work.  It was a great event, and we were proud of all our volunteers on the day. Over the 6 weeks holidays we have been running extra sessions and will be running 2 weeklong boot camps.  One is the Boxer’s Toolkit (females only), which was developed by our lead coach, Giz.  It is a program that teaches transferrable skills, through the medium of boxing.  It has already been tried and tested with schools, including two Pupil Referral Units and this Summer we are focusing it on our female participants.  The other was the Week of the Warrior, where we run a weeklong program that involves a variety of sport and martial arts. Whilst we have the […]
