Support Carney’s Community | Donate, Fundraise, or Volunteer

Carney’s is only able to continue with the support of people like you. Every year we rely on volunteers, donations, grants and fundraising so that our young people can get the help they need. Below are some of the ways that you can get involved in supporting us. Or if you have any other ideas on how you’d like to support us, please get in touch with Hannah: hannah.tulloch@carneyscommunity.org

Donations

Did you know over half of the work of Carney’s is funded by individuals like yourself?

Our latest annual accounts show that 51% of our work last year was funded by donations. On the charts below you can see the breakdown of where our income comes from and how it’s spent. We strive to be open about where our funding comes from and how we use it, so that you can be sure your donations are making the best impact on the young lives we support every day. You can view our full accounts here.

You can donate directly to us through our just giving page here. We also accept cash and cheque donations, which can be delivered by hand to our centre. Cheques can be posted, they should be written to “Carney’s Community” and envelopes addressed “FAO Hannah Tulloch, 30 Petworth Street, London, SW11 4QW”. If you would like to make a direct donation to our bank account please contact Hannah: hannah.tulloch@carneyscommunity.org for our bank details. If you are a UK tax payer and making a donation by cash, cheque or bank transfer, please complete the gift aid form here and send to us.

Each year we need to raise around £600,000 to keep our work going. That is made possible through a combination of donations from individuals, donations from companies, self-generated income and grants from trusts and foundations. As a donor you could contribute to the work of the organisation in general, but if you are interested in supporting a particular aspect of our work, please get in touch. We are currently fundraising to cover the “core costs” of the organisation, e.g. the administration costs, energy bills, insurance (all of those less exciting costs that are vital to keep the organisation running). We are also looking to raise funds to refurbish several spaces in our centre, including converting an old storage space into a cozy meeting space that our young people can use for one to one support, workshops, counselling and as an extension of the youth club which is at capacity.

We also accept many non-financial donations. We have previously had offers from construction companies to refurbish spaces in our centre, bikes donated to our bike workshop, the free use of space for meetings, free gym access for our young people and second-hand IT devices donated for our staff team to use. We are not able to accept all donations, so please get in touch if you’re interested in donating a non-financial gift.

Below is some of our recent corporate donors (both financial and non-financial).

Fundraising

If you love a sports challenge or hosting events you could use this to fundraise for Carney’s Community. Every year we work with supporters on several fundraising events including dinners, boxing shows, yoga events, art sales and comedy nights. And we are always impressed by those taking on impressive feats to raise money for us including cycle challenges, marathons and triathlons. If you would like to fundraise for us you can create a fundraising page from our just giving site here. If you would like any publicity to support your fundraising campaign or someone to come and speak at an event, please do get in touch.

Grants

Carney’s Community would not exist without the support of Trusts and Foundations who provide grant funding for all areas of our work. Below is some of the organisations who have recently provided us with grant funding. If you are interested in funding us or would like to find out how best your organisation can support us or what our current funding requirements are please contact Hannah on: hannah.tulloch@carneyscommunity.org.

Gifts in Wills

Carney’s focus is on the long term. The ethos of our work is to provide long-term, consistent and unconditional support with empathy and for that reason we plan to continue our work for many years to come. We are currently working on a long term financial strategy, so that we have the financial stability and diversification of income to secure our future. A gift in your will would go a long way to secure the future of the organisation.

Did you know even a gift of 1% could be left in your will, so that those closest to you inherit 99%. If you would like to leave a gift to Carney’s Community in your will all you need to do is provide our charity name, address number to your solicitor.

Charity Name: Carney’s Community
Charity Address: 30 Petworth Street, London, Sw11 4QW
Charity Number: 1150650
If you have any questions about this, please get in touch with Hannah: hannah.tulloch@carneyscommunity.org.

Volunteering

We’re always keen for people to volunteer at our regular Monday and Wednesday Boxing and Youth Club sessions. You don’t need any experience of youth work or boxing to get involved. We’re looking for people who can make a mid or long term commitment, we don’t accept people to come and volunteer at one off sessions or corporate team volunteering at our sessions. We also occasionally have opportunities for volunteering with other aspects of the organisation, these will usually be publicised in our newsletters here. All potential volunteers are required to complete a application form, DBS check and provide references. If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch with Hannah: hannah.tulloch@carneyscommunity.org.

Employment Support

If you’re an employer, would you consider recruiting young adults that we’re working with? Many of those we support are neurodiverse of have criminal convictions which makes it challenging to find work. In 2024 we developed our own employment support programme, providing paid employment and one to one support for participants looking for work. But the paid opportunities we have are limited and we need to find socially conscious employers who are willing to give opportunities for people who have to overcome more barriers than some to access employment. We’ll work with you to put the right steps in place to help make the employment opportunity work for you and our participant and continue to support them throughout their employment. If you are interested in finding out more and offering employment opportunities please get in touch with Alice, Employment Support Officer,: alice.jhugroo@carneyscommunity.org
