We’re sad to be saying goodbye to three members of staff this year who are all moving onto pastures new. However, no matter where they go they will always be part of the Carney’s Community Family!

Our Facilities Manger, Matt, has been working at Carney’s for two years. In those two years he’s had to deal not just with the trials and tribulations that come with being a Carney’s employee, but also with leaks in the centre, funding for and replacing the boiler system and fitting a new kitchen to name but a few. It’s fair to say he will leave the centre in a better state than he found it! Matt is off to do some travelling, but insists he will be back!

After nearly four years with Carney’s, Arthur, our Lead Youth Worker is moving on to the next venture. Having held the roles of volunteer, mentor, Centre Manager and Lead Youth Worker, moving forward he is going back to where he started, as a volunteer mentor alongside his new role. Arthur said “Just because I’m leaving this role doesn’t mean I won’t be here. Carney’s will always be a part of me. You can’t get rid of me that easily!’

Sasha, our business and employability mentor, will be moving on from Carney’s after nearly three years. Sasha has started up her own Community Interest Company ‘I Am In Me’ where she will continue to work with ex-offenders and those at risk of offending on their personal development and employabilty. Despite leaving us, she will still be working closely with Carney’s under her new banner, and we wish her all the best!

All three of these members of staff have left big shoes to fill! Sad though it is to see them leave, we are happy to say we think we have found the right candidates with the right passion and vigour to take up their mantle. After a transitional period, where those outgoing staff members will pass on their wisdom, knowledge and experience, we are excited to see what fresh ideas and enthusiasm our new Community members will bring.

Stay tuned for their introduction next year!
