Manny Pacquiao and Carney's CommunityGeorge Turner and Carney’s Community participants were interviewed earlier this week by BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat’s Ben Mundy ahead of Saturday night’s Mayweather v Pacquiao fight.

George said that a positive effect of big matches on television is that people will come down to the gym. But he explained that amateur boxing and professional boxing are two very different animals:

Professional boxing is a business and in my opinion amateur boxing is a sport and you see quite a lot of negative behaviour coming out of professional boxing.

George told the Newsbeat audience that Carney’s Community looks at the positives and that the focus of its sessions is on controlling emotions:

We try and create a positive community and we try to help them be the best they can be.

One thing that is really positive is both of the boxers have shown you can come from nothing and work your way to the top … that shows what this sport can do.

The report was recorded at our centre with participants Jean Paul and Kurtis giving their projections on the worlds most expensive boxing match.
