Carney’s Community and Fitzroy Lodge picked up a Team London award for volunteering at a ceremony held this week at City Hall by London’s Mayor Boris Johnson.
Team London, the Mayor’s volunteering programme for London, is all about the people who are giving their time to make London a better place to live, including programmes that build stronger neighbourhoods and improve our environment through cleaning and greening London.
The Awards celebrate the excellence of volunteers and the amazing things that can be accomplished when people work together to make London the best city it can be.
Arthur, our centre manager, scrubbed up very well in a suit for the occasion! Never one to shy from an opportunity, he used this chance to tell the Mayor about how much some of Carney’s Community participants struggle to find housing.
