Last year Carney’s community won funding from the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, to support the boxing sessions we deliver. We were then pleasantly surprised to be invited to go to Monaco for the Laureus World Sports Awards, to celebrate the achievements of the greatest sportsmen, sportswomen and teams from around the world.

So CEO George Turner and participant Cyle Carth, not only attended the awards, but were also interviewed (by Kate Abdo and Benedict Cumberbatch) during the awards. It was an amazing experience for them to be standing infront of sporting greats such as Roger Federer, Marvin Hagles, Ryan Giggs, Luis Figo and many more.

Cyle was able to speak about how he has turned his life around and is now trying to put something back through his new business, Good Guys Decorating (we will write more about this following its launch). The awards were screened on Sky Sports and can be viewed here:

It was an unbelievable experience to have met and spoken to so many of my sporting heroes at the awards.  It is through their support and the work of Laureus that Carney’s are able to support people like myself and I will always be grateful for that
